EEA family permit - pls clarify some details in my case

Post by Patricia » Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:15 pm

Hello to all,

I’m very happy I found this website – it’s very helpful. I read a big part of forums, but I would like to make sure of couple of things.

My situation is as follows: I am an EEA national (Lithuanian), my husband is not a EEA national (Venezuelan). We started dating in 2005 in the USA and got married in June 2007 in Lithuania. My husband has a temporary permit to live in Lithuania and we both live here now, but he still goes to the USA every 2 months because he has a work contract there until May 2008. The company he works for has a branch in the UK and they would like him to continue working with them in the UK. So we decided to move to the UK this summer of 2008 as the job offer is really good + I always wanted to do my MA and MBA in England. My concerns are:

1. Applying for EEA family permit: is it enough that only my husband has a guaranteed job in the UK? I am planning to start looking for a job as soon as we move + apply for university for 2009.
2. How long does it usually take to receive an answer (just need to know how long in advance before the trip we should apply).
3. I read that people provide lots of papers when applying (personal e-mails, pictures etc to prove the marriage is genuine, university diplomas, plane tickets etc.). Should we prepare all that?

Thank You in advance
Your help is very appreciated
