EU Permanent Residency Possible in Denmark?

Post by mira3000 » Fri Oct 14, 2016 5:31 pm

I am a British citizen married to a Danish national. I was granted family reunification under the Danish law in October 2013. (For 2 years initially then an extension for another 3 years ie.valid until October 2018).

Looking at the rules for acquiring permanent residence under the Danish law after 6 years it seems much tougher than the EU permanent residence rules after 5 years.

Now my question is: my current residence permit of family reunification has been obtained via Danish rules. Will it be possible to apply for EU permanent residence as a British citizen after completing 5 years legal residence on my current visa.

My husband is working legally and paying his taxes. I am currently not studying or working as I am looking after my 1.5 year old baby and I am pregnant with the second baby. We have not received any public funds during our stay in Denmark.

Please advise.

You would have to be a qualified person (exercising treaty rights) in order to leverage free movement.
