Hi everyone

I hope one of you can help me.
I am british but have spent the last 2 years living in Northern Cyprus, whilst there I met a girl from Kyrgyzstan, we have been together for a year, I am now back in England and she has gone home as her visa expired. I would like to help her obtain a visa to come England (we may marry at some time in the future) any help or advise would be greatlly apreciated

If she just wants to visit, you can help her apply for a visitor's visa, but you should not mention anything about her being your girlfriend and wanting to 'be with you'...that can lead to a refusal, especially if she does not have substantial prove that she will return home before her visa expires.

If she wants to stay long-term, you may not have many options;
1. Apply for a fiancee visa. Obviously, as the name suggests, you plan to marry at some point. The fiancee visa is valid for 6 months and she would have no recourse to public funds or employment for the visa holder. It cannot be extended except for in exceptional circumstances.
2. If she is well qualified she can obtain a sponsorship for a work permit from an employer, or she can apply for the HSMP (highly skilled migrants programme).
3. Depending on your finances, you can sponsor her to come as a student - you would have to prove you can support her financially.

There wouldn't be any other options but those above. For more details on them, visit the BIA website www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/.
