English Requirement

Post by SarahSaha » Thu Nov 03, 2016 4:36 pm

Hello,

My husband is Indian, and we're applying for his UK settlement visa. He has a B Com Honours in Accountancy (3 years) from Calcutta University, which was studied in English. To use this qualification do we have to send the certificates to UK Naric, and pay their fee? Otherwise is he able to do a higher level English Test in Mumbai? All advice appreciated.

He either needs the NARIC ELA or he needs to do English A1 test from an HO approved SELT test provider. He can't go to just any English testing venue.

The fee for the test and for UK NARIC is basically the same.

Hello, we are in the process of getting a letter from the University to confirm he studied in English. Once we get the UK NARIC certificate, is this valid permanently - we'd be able to use it for Leave to Remain / Citizenship in the future?
If we can't get the said letter he will opt for taking the IELTS Life Skills Test. I know he only requires A1 at this stage, but would it be acceptable to take the B1 test. I did ask UKVI, but they say they can't advise me.

Thank you

He can do B1 although remember that anything can change before he is eligible for ILR but as it stand now, B1 is required for ILR and can be used for FLR(M) too.

Thank you!
Regarding the NARIC certificate, once he has this I take it, that it is valid permanently, and this too can be used for ILR (as it stands now).
