Tier-2 (General) Dependent Visa duration for child

Post by raghuvaran » Mon Nov 21, 2016 4:54 pm

I am on a Tier-2 General Visa (5 years) issued in Oct-2014 and now valid until Oct-2019.
My wife does have the dependent visa for the same duration (valid until Oct-2019) issued in Oct-2014
This year we gave birth to our child in UK.
As we plan to travel India in Jan 2017, I will be applying for his dependent visa.
My query:
Can I apply for Tier-2 General 3 years dependent visa for my child though my visa was originally issued for 5 years (note: now there is now only less than 3 years left in my visa)
OR I should only apply for Tier-2 General 5 years dependent visa?

Thanks,
Raghu

You will apply for 3 years or less. So your son's visa will expire the same date as yours once approved.
