DLA and exemption for 18600

I've recently got my ILR (10 year basis). Ive applied for my son's MN1 Application. I need to change my wife leave to remain category from dependent of HS Ent to FLR(M). I am not meeting 18600 financial criteria. I am applying for DLA (due to my son's disability). I have read that if the sponsor is getting DLA they are exempt from 18600 condition. Is this apply to me if I'm getting DLA due to my son?

No. You are the sponsor, not your son.

It will take a long time to get DLA awarded for your son and IF he is allowed the correct amount of care, then you might be allowed to claim Carer's Allowance. Someone on CA is exempt from the 18.6.

This will all take a long time as your son will have to wait for his medical to check his condition to see if he can have any DLA and if he is awarded any care needs.
