Am I right in thinking that once the application is sent to the minister they won't require the GNIB?
Therefore, if that happens before Jan 12 I could spare my money right?
(It is 300 euro which seems like quite a lot for a document that is hopefully going to be rendered useless in a matter of months.)

If you EU FAM you don't pay for renewal.

@all
any approvals yet? I have recently emailed the citizenship department. I have been getting "you application is at an advanced stage..." status for the last 3 months. I am not sure what is happening. Anybody in the same boat? I applied in June 2016.
Many thanks,
Saad786

Ah... cheers lads. Thanks for that.

So, I am trying to make an appointment down at Burgh Quay, but the only time is mid Feb on the website and nobody will speak to me on the phone, and emails don't seem to get a reply. Does anyone know what happens if I cant get an earlier appointment and my card is expired for a month?

Any advice?

I emailed them a while ago because I couldn’t find an appointment either and this was part of their answer:

“If your query relates to a renewal of your existing immigration permission
and you cannot secure an appointment to renew your immigration permission
before your current immigration permission expires, this office will treat
any gaps as a grace period and it will not have an adverse effect on your
immigration history.”

Cheers for that Max.
That is what I was hoping for... seems only fair. Ah.. Burgh Quay... it has a special place in my heart.

Do you mind to share if there is any template for speeding remorse letter only if you have as you did submit a letter of remorse. I would be grateful if you can help me with this.

Thanks in advance

I wrote something along the lines of being remorseful for what happened. I was a bit immature at that time but I have since learnt my lesson and have been of good character since then, as proven by XX number of year after that where I have not gotten into any further trouble since then and been a law-abiding citizen.
I believe it comes in handy and would strongly encourage anyone with a conviction to think about submitting the letter. Just a heartfelt letter, it doesn't need to have any particular format.
@ zuhus,

Thank you so much for your reply. I have already sent one. Hope minister will be kind-hearted to consider my application.
