How long it takes for sponsor license?

Post by pejict » Wed Aug 03, 2016 8:58 pm

Hi,

Currently my future employer is applying for a sponsor license, it has been 2 months but still we haven't heard anything from UKVI yet.
This makes me a bit nervous as on the website it says most applications can be dealt with in less that 8 weeks.

I'm just wondering that if anyone would share their experiences that how long it took you to get the license?
Or is there anyway out that we can check the status with UKVI?
I check the sponsor list everyday hoping that my employer's name is shown on it.

Many thanks.

it can take longer as well, some cases on forum says 6 months.. it depends on the size and profile of company.. whether they want to do more checks/visit for the company or not

Service standard is meant to be 18 weeks. If it has only been 8 weeks you may have a long wait for the licence and first CoS allocation.

Google search "UKVI service standards sponsor". The first result that comes up is "About our services".

Changes to licence details are the fourth category mentioned. 18 weeks.

If sponsor is yet to become licensed, yet to advertise post and fulfill RLMT, then how is it you believe you have a job wirh this sponsor?

An update for anyone who needs for reference,

The first application of sponsor license was rejected due to it's actually quite complicated and the employer thought they can deal it solo, after that they found a proper solicitor to work with.
They spent few weeks to make sure all documents will be clear and neat.

My employer finally submitted everything again by mid Nov and got licensed recently. Apart from the pre-work it's approximately 4 weeks.

Hi,

I am in a similar situation. I resigned from my previous job in august, my previous employer informed home office in 1st week of September since then I have not received my curtailment letter. My prospective new employer applied for the sponsorship licence on 2nd of December (complied with all the document requirements, RLMT, and also provided my passport details in the application) but I am concerned that due to upcoming holidays this might take too long. Is there any benefit in calling home office regarding any update or to request faster action as the curtailment letter might be issued any day.

Thank You!

Definitely a benefit in calling the business helpdesk of UKVI as they can really expedite it if your visa is expiring soon. Especially if it's been more than 8 weeks.

My current employer's licence application took exactly 7 weeks from sending the documents.

Thanks eduleal, my prospective employer did email them on 20th December, and got a response on 22nd December that Licencing unit has been made aware of the information, but no further progress after that. Really nervous but guess will have to wait.

@VanessaSONG: Wondering if you got any further update.

Thanks

Hi All,

Don't know if anyone is in a similar boat, the application was made 7 weeks back and till date the company has not heard back anything. Is such delay normal (I know the stated time is 8 weeks but have seen most successful applicants being returned in 4-6 weeks)? Does home office make such late visits or is there any benefit in any further follow-up. I am asking since the last follow-up with home office did not result in any positive outcome. Any advice from experienced members is highly appreciated.

Thanks

All pre licence applications have a service level turn around of 40 days from date of submission.
HOWEVER if there is missed documentation, failed visiting or other issues the 40 days get extended.
