Tier 2 application questions

Hi,

I don't have my restricted CoS yet, it is being submitted in 5th of Feb and I should have the result on the 13th of Feb. My start date is on the 17th of May.

In the mean time, I wanna find out:

1) if my CoS is successfully issued in mid Feb. When can I (When is best for me to) apply for the visa as I will be travelling (mostly out of my native country).

2) I don't remember where and when I have read "you can only travel to the UK as a tier 2 migrant 14 days before the start of your work" Can someone verify this for me please?

1. Only you will know 'when is best for me'. How will you travel outside your home country if you have to submit your passport when you apply for Tier 2??

2. Page 48 in the link below. But you can only enter the UK from the visa start date.

From what I understand, application for tier 2 general will maximum take about 10 days in my home country. Therefore, I intent to have my appointment scheduled late April for a mid Mat start date. And so I would like to travel outside of my home country from about end of Jan to mid April.

Is this a good idea? or should I submit application at a different time.

Another question- on page 48 of the document you have shared above :
"Alternatively, if you state the date you intend to travel to the UK on your visa
application, entry clearance can be granted with effect from 7 days before this date.
However, your intended travel date can be no later than 14 days after the start date
of your CoS.".

When is the earliest I can be back in the UK?

The reason for a lot of travelling and finding earliest date back in the UK is because I am in the process of applying for an ILR via the 10 year long residency route, hence, I am carefully counting my days spent out side the UK.
