Extension of passport request deadline

Folks,

I have got passport request after 3 years waiting time..yahooooo....yes... But here is my question - they asked me to submit my passport within 60 days, which for several reasons I can not do it within 60days (one reason being that I am moving back home from my current country of residence and my travel plan coincide with this 60 days and also one of our passport is to be renewed etc). Can I ask for an extension to submit my passport may be another month or so? if yes, how can I ask extension?
