AN application refused.....residence evidence question

Post by Wmc » Fri Jan 20, 2017 12:23 am

Dear friends, I need your advice. My application for citizenship was refused. The reason given is that the evidence I provided to prove residency was unsatisfactory. I applied through NCS who raised no concerns. I am Irish and have been resident here since 2010. I have PR status since 2015 and PR card since late 2016. In December I was asked for additional evidence. So I sent PR card, council tax bills with my name, Hmrc statements, p60s, college transcript etc. I worked only part time as I was also a carer and student for some of the time. I have had only a few brief absences from the U.K. since 2010.

I am planning to use form NR for reconsideration. But I welcome advice on what evidence I missed or what I can do to support reconsideration. My partner who applied at the same time and with same criteria was approved........any advice will be welcome.
Thank you!

Welcome.

Irish nationals are normally assumed to be settled so the crux of your application would have been to prove residence.

Proofs of residence:
  • Stamped passports;
    Tax documents;
    Council tax bills;
    Utility bills;
    Voter registration/electoral roll;
    Insurance (house/car etc);
    Driver's license;
    School letters (to parent if you have a child);
    Health authority letters;
    Doctor/dentist/optician/clinic records;
    Church/temple/mosque records;
& etc etc

Did you prove you were physically present in UK 5 years before your date of application?

What was wording of the refusal? (omit personal detail).
