Apply to join family living permanently in the UK - Child

Post by sbellur » Wed Jan 25, 2017 6:38 pm

Hello Everyone,

Our daughter was born in India in October 2016 and i wish to apply for child settlement visa for her. Both me & my wife were granted ILR in August 2016. I am currently in the UK and my wife is in India. My wife would be applying for our daughter's visa and i will be the main sponsor.

Below are the documents I have shortlisted:
- My daughter's passport original
- Printed application form (VAF4A)
- VAF Appendix 1
- Bank statements (6 months)
- Pay slips (6 months)
- Last year P60
- Employer Letter
- Tuberculosis test results
- Land registry documents (Electronic copy print out)
- Mortgage Statements
- Council Tax latest statement
- Electricity Bill
- Home office letter granting ILR for both me and my wife
- Mine and my wife's Biometric card photo copy
- Daughter's birth certificate
- Sponsorship Undertaking Form (SU07)
- Our Marriage Certificate
- Both of our Passport Copies.

Please let me know if the above documents are sufficient or if anything else is required.

Also, I am confused about the photocopies. Should we provide both of our original passport along with my daughter's visa application? Since I am in the UK, would a normal photocopy be enough or should the photocopy be notarised?

Thanks and regards,
Sreekanth

- Sponsorship Undertaking Form (SU07)
This is NOT required. It is for adult dependent relatives, not children.

Since child was born after parents got ILR does that not make the child British? If so, will applying for a passport not be better off rather than a visa. My thoughts which I am open to corrections if wrong.

Children born in the UK to a parent holding ILR are automatically British citizens. Children born abroad do not have that benefit.

They had the same immigration status as that of the less-privileged parent. As both parents have ILR, the child should get an ILE endorsement (ILE=ILR issued outside the UK).

Thanks for the replies guys.

I am hoping all the documents mentioned are fine with SU07 not required.

Could you please let me know if i have to certify the Passport and Biometric card photocopies?

Yes, certified copies of your passport.

Also, any documents that are not in English must be translated by an official department or translator.

Hi, Sorry to bother you all again. I read somewhere that entire passport and old passports including blank pages have to be Certified. Is this true? If not could you please advise me which pages needs to be photocopied and Certified?

Thanks CR001. If i get my passport and biometric photocopies from Document Certification Service in Post Office, will they be accepted while applying for my daughter's visa?
