First British passport for child - supporting documents

I'm in the process of applying for my daughter's first British passport and would like some guidance regarding the documents I'm supposed to send. I'm the father and a naturalised British citizen. Mother's not a British citizen and is in the UK on a spouse visa. Daughter was born in the UK last year. Should be a fairly straightforward application you would think but I'm seeing conflicting information about the supporting document requirements.

I have entered my British passport number in the application form, and this booklet seems to suggest that is all that's needed as far as parents' documents are concerned (Table A, page 14). But when I completed the form online I was presented with a documents checklist which asks for:

Evidence of one of your parents claim to British nationality. Provide one of the following:
* the parent's full birth certificate, or
* the parent's certificate of naturalisation or registration

Which is fine since I can send my certificate of naturalisation, but to confirm this I rang the passport advice line, who promptly went on to contradict all of the above by claiming I a) do not need to send the naturalisation certificate, but b) do need to send the mother's (foreign) birth certificate as proof of her identity since she doesn't have a British passport. Neither the booklet nor the document checklist make any mention of this.

So now I'm confused about what exactly to send. I can send everything that is being asked for by the various documents/people (my passport no + cert of naturalisation + mother's BC) but equally don't want to muddle things up by sending unnecessary documents. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Read the passport guidance book, it tells you what you need.

Parents birth certs are not required.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, should've mentioned, daughter was born after (citizen since 2004, daughter born last year).

I take it you mean the booklet I linked to? I read that and was fairly confident that my passport number is all that's needed (aside from daughter's birth cert and photos), but the documents checklist and advice line have muddied things somewhat. Frankly I'm tempted to ignore the advice line, the person really didn't sound like they knew what they were talking about! The only thing that gave me pause was, without the mother's birth cert or passport, there's no document that corroborates her details entered in the application aside from, I suppose, the daughter's birth cert. But I presume that's not a problem?
