If you are married state either 'married' or 'separated'.

If you state 'separated', just state 'details unknown'.

Then put married and explain in the 'additional information' page that you are separated and don't know the whereabouts of your spouse.

What 'other advise' are you looking for? If you are married you state 'married'. You can explain in the relevant part of the form.

If you are applying for citizenship based on 5 years residence, it is not an issue. You won't be refused for stating you are married but separated.
