Family Visit for my parents

Post by kishorek » Sun Mar 26, 2017 7:58 pm

Dear friends,

I am planning to bring my parents to UK for a family visit for 6 months. There is lot of rumors that nowadays the visit visa has new rules and lot of rejections. My parents were here in 2009 for a 4months visit but now I need some advice before I go into the process.

My dad is actually retired and I am supporting my parents financially. The property in india is also in my name and my mum has got only the power so I dont think this document proof is valid. The question is what documents they need to provide apart from the passport copies because I am going to sponsor for their whole journey and stay.

I would appreciate your advice and help.

Many Thanks
Kish

6 months is not a 'visit'. A visit is a few weeks.

Yes, it has become increasingly difficult to get visit visas for elderly parents, particularly if you are supporting them financially. HO might take the view as 'what reason do they have to return to home country'.

They will have to submit evidence of their personal and social ties, their financial circumstances (bank statements/proof of income) etc. to convince the ECO that they will leave the UK. This is regardless of your sponsoring their whole trip.

Search the forum, lots of tales of woe and refusals. There is also no appeal right for visit visas.

As an aside, when they applied for their previous visit visas, did they state they were visiting for 4 months or did they state less?

Hi,

Thank you for your earliest response.

I had applied for 6 months in the previous visit visa and they have granted for 6 months with no issues and they have returned back to india in 4 months.

I am hoping that they will grant visa based on the previous visit but bit worried. My dad is having his SBI account where his pension credits would that be suffice. Also my sisters are in India, is there any letters from my sisters saying that they will come back to india after the 6months visit would help ??

Thanks again

You have misunderstood my question. I asked how long did they state in the application that they would be visiting the UK. All visit visas are valid for 6 months, even if you state visiting for 1 month.

Sorry...They have stated for 6months but the possible situation would be they might return earlier than 6 months....

Is this a problem if they mentioned for 6 months.

This was the issue and expiry date for the previous visa...seems more than 6 months.

Issue 14/05/2009
Exp: 20/01/2010

They must submit rock solid evidence of their circumstances otherwise the visa will likely be refused. Search this sub forum and you will see how many refusals there are.

Have your parents ever used the NHS while visiting?

As examples; Property and/or land ownership, evidence of financial stability, bank statements etc, strong family ties in the home country, ongoing employment etc.
