RLMT and CoS and 60 days curtailment

Post by AdriS » Thu Mar 30, 2017 7:48 pm

Hello,

I am currently waiting for my curtailment letter from the HO, I had to resign from my job and was not able to secure a new one before that. It's been 35 days since my last day of employment but I have not received the HO letter. Should I contact the HO to ask if it's been curtailed?

I am interviewing with several companies. If one decides to hire me, will they need to have a valid CoS and a completed RLMT, before they can submit the application within the 60 day window? What if they do not have these, can we go beyond the 60 days for the RLMT, or CoS? Thanks very much!

The time to receive curtailment letter varies. I know of folks who lost their jobs in December and are yet to receive curtailment letter. Please make sure your sponsor has your latest address on file and used that while reporting your resignation in the SMS.

The 60 days countdown starts from the date of issuance of curtailment letter. And unless your job is in Shortage Occupation List, the new employer will have to do RLMT and CoS before you can make a fresh application.

Thanks so much for your help!

I was hoping to travel to the US in May, am I safe to travel in and out of the country during this time period? For example while the RLMT is being conducted but I am before my curtailment? Thank you!

If your sponsor has reported the end of employment to Home Office, then it's not safe to travel abroad as you may be refused re-entry.

Thank you - I thought I was safe within my 60 days to seek other employment, but I'm legally not allowed to travel? Is there any way around this? If I have not received my curtail letter does that matter?

Would a letter of intent if a new employer is starting the visa process help?

If I do not yet have a verbal job offer, is there anything I can provide to them like bank statements or my flat lease agreement etc. so they know I am seeking employment and have been here lawfully for years?

Many thanks!

If HO are aware (which they will be) that you have left the UK, it is highly likely that you will not receive a curtailment letter and your visa will simply just be cancelled.

Thank you for your help here. I did travel to the US to see my family after I left my recent employer (last day Feb 25), and did re-enter (March 9) as I have frequent traveller and was within my 60 days so I thought this was ok. Does this mean they may have cancelled my visa and could I be in trouble here?

I am currently interviewing with several companies trying to get an offer ASAP. Do I need to contact the HO to understand if I am ok to continue seeking employment?

I am scheduled to leave the country at the end of the month for a short trip, if a new employer is conducting the visa process will I be ok?

Are you sure you were not stamped in as a visitor??

I would postpone traveling until you have a new visa, but this is my opinion.

I don't have to go through the gates because I have a "frequent traveller" card that let's me leave and re-enter at the e-passport gates so it's automatic entry.

Should I contact the HO to enquire if I am ok?
