Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode

Post by GaryAblett » Thu Apr 06, 2017 1:46 am

Hey,

I was just hoping to get a definitive answer to my question. Are there any limitations on what I can and cannot do with a Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode.

Thanks.

Confirmation of same rights as a British citizen when in the UK.
Valid only for the UK.
Limited to the validity of the foreign passport.

Certificate of Entitlement

Post by GaryAblett » Fri Apr 07, 2017 7:58 am

Will I be questioned as intensely with a certificate of entitlement as I would be with a visa? I'm worried about being given a hard time at immigration.
Cheers

No, because a Certificate of Entitlement means that you have the Right of Abode in the UK.

A visa means that you have leave to remain or enter and people subject to leave would need to be questioned to to verify that they are still keeping to the terms of that grant of leave.

What is the basis of your CoE? Are you a British citizen or are you a Commonwealth citizen resident in the UK since before 1983?
I am not a lawyer or immigration advisor. My statements/comments do not constitute legal advice. E&OE. Please do not PM me for advice.
