Naturalisation - Spouse of British Citizen

Post by glenkam » Wed Apr 12, 2017 11:25 pm

I have been in the UK almost 8 years in various categories (Working Holiday, Tier 2 Work Permit and Spouse(5 years completed as per new rule)). Its been a month now since I have been given an ILR/Permanent Residency.

Hence I would like some advise to plan my visa application.

1. The gov.uk visa section details that if person is applying naturalisation then they would need to hold an ILR/Permanent Residency for the last 12 months. However this is not mentioned in the conditions of the "If I am a spouse of a British citizen" wishing to apply for naturalisation. Does this mean I am eligible to apply for naturalisation immediately and do not need to wait for 12 months as I have already been granted the ILR/Permanent Residency(completed one month since I have been granted ILR/Permanent residency) in the UK

2. Would I still need to wait for another year (just like any other visa holder) before applying for naturalisation.

I would appreciate if you can please help in clearing my understanding as this will really help me to proceed further in my visa application.
