Tuberculosis tests for visa applicants

Post by Mary937 » Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:02 pm

I would like to invite my mum to visit me in the UK. Do I understand correct that she does not need to take tuberculosis test if her visit would be less than 6 months please? This is what written on gov.uk website:

"You’ll need to have a tuberculosis (TB) test if you’re coming to the UK for more than 6 months and are resident in any of these listed countries...."

Thank you.

No because she is not able to visit the UK for more than 6 months at a time.

Thank you CR001.

"Long-term visit visas
If you can prove you need to visit the UK regularly over a longer period, you can apply for a visa that lasts 2, 5 or 10 years. You can stay for a maximum of 6 months on each visit"

Even if my mum applies for 2-5 years visa she still does not need TB test please?

Applying for a longer term visa does not mean she can stay for more than 180 days out of 12 months.

Do we need to pay a health surcharge if applying for visitor's visa for 2 years please? Thank you.

NO!! Visitors DO NOT pay health surcharge. Visitors CANNOT stay in the UK for continuous 2 years. They also cannot use the free NHS so make sure they have good travel insurance.
