1st time applicant .. hsmp refused

hello,

my hsmp was rejected cos they say couldn't verify my earnings. i supplied authentic documents and my employer wasn't contacted.

how can i lodge a successful appeal. a friend says i should get a lawyer. is this advisable? i know i don't have to submit new docs but do i need to send all the originals back with the appeal?
