getting a visa for my family

Post by jathampy » Sat Apr 29, 2017 9:57 am

Hi,

I am having ILR which was issued in August 2016. Due to my son studies and wife having government job in india, my wife and son couldn't' visit UK in the last four years. Now I want them to bring here for a month vacation now and then sometime next year I want them to bring here permanently.
Just want to know which Visa I need to apply for ILR dependents who are outside UK.
Also Can I apply visitor visa now and then the ILR dependent visa later ?

I can apply for naturalisation this August. Will there by any issue in getting naturalisation considering the fact that my family is not with me for the last few years ?

How old is your son?

Difficult to get a visit visa if the spouse is living and settled in the UK. What evidence of ties to home country will they show?

You have to qualify for citizenship, it has nothing to do with your family or where they are.

Thanks for the quick response. My son age is 17. He will become 18 this November.
I understand that it's difficult to get a visit visa. Can I apply the family visa ?
I am transferring money to my wife account almost every month. Will that help to show that my family is having ties with me?

Even less chance of being granted a visitor visa if your family are financially dependent on you. They need to show that they have strong ties to their home country, not to you.

Once your son turns 18 in November, he won't qualify for a settlement visa to join you as he will be considered and adult. If you want your wife and son to come permanently, I strongly suggest you apply for their settlement visas before he turns 18 otherwise your son will have to find a visa he qualifies for himself (Tier 4 or Tier 2 at some point)
and then sometime next year I want them to bring here permanently.

Many thanks. Just want to confirm is the URL https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/apply that I need to check for the family visa. Looks like so many application forms like VAF4A ,appendix, sponsorship form etc need to be filled. Hope the online form covers all these forms.

The sponsorship form isn't a requirement.
