Re-entering UK with expired EEA Family Permit

My EEA family permit expires on August, but for family issues in my country, still I can not tavel to UK. I can travel just until September or October. Can I apply again for EEA family permit, before it expires, knowing I can not travel to UK during the 6 months of its validity?
