Fiance visa to flr visa

Post by james31s » Mon May 01, 2017 4:48 pm

Hi guys. My partner currently has the 6 month fiance visa. We are now married and want to apply for the next visa (flr) we're just a little confused as to what one to go for so any help will be very much appreciated.
Also we have a son who already has a British passport, when applying for the visa do we have to take him into account for the plus child part?

Cheers

James

There is only one visa that applies to your wife - FLR(M). https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -form-flrm

Your British son isn't included in the financial calculation for the minimum income level, which in your case will be £18,600 p.a

In addition to the visa fee your wife will have to pay the £500 IHS surcharge.

Assuming you meet the financial requirement of £18,600pa, she applies by post or in person on form FLR(M).

Child needs to be mentioned on the form but is not added to calculate the financial requirement.

Also bear in mind that your wife won't be able to work until she has been issued with her FLR(M) visa. A postal application can take 3 months to process, whereas an in-person application submitted at a PSC for the additional fee of £590 is generally decided on the same day, with the BRP arriving in the post within 10 days or less.

Do you think it's worth using a solicitor?

No, a solicitor is not required if you meet the requirements and it is straightforward. All a solicitor will do is charge you a fortune (likely more than the visa fee) to fill in a form and glance at your paperwork. Many members have had awful experiences with a solicitor completely stuffing up the most simplest forms (some even include fraudulent paperwork without telling the applicant).

We are here 24/7 to offer advice, often more update and better than solicitor, and we do it for free.

Hi,

I currently have an ILR (long residency) and have already applied for my son's naturalisation and passport 2 months ago, my wife is my dependant and is currently on tier 1 entrepreneur partner visa. I aim to apply for her flr(m) and I know that we have to send 6 months payslips as well. If I am a limited company contractor, would i have to show my company account as well or the 6 months payslips be fine. Secondly off my 6 months payslips, the first payslip has a discrepancy, I have transferred myself a salary of £1994 for that particular month but my accountant generated a payslip of £2000. Will this be a cause of concern as there is a difference of 6 pounds. Can an accountant generate some sort of a document that would mention a discrepancy of this sort.

Your feedback is highly appreciable

Hello again.
My wife currently has the ielts a1 certificate. Does she also have to do the a2? This is our first flr visa so not sure it applys to us.
Also how long is the a1 valid for?

Cheers

A2 level English will be required when she applies for her next FLR(M) extension in 2.5 years time.

Hi guys just a couple of questions.
On section 14 who signs this ? Is it the bill payers or the homeowners?
On section 7a 7.3 what category do I apply under is it a or b ? As I cannot find the document to guide me on this

Is the biometrics only taken when the visa has been granted??

Thanks alot

Is the biometrics only taken when the visa has been granted?? No, they have to be done before the application review starts. If applying in person, it is done as part of the appointment. If applying by post, HO will send a letter with a barcode and spouse goes to the Post Office with the letter(pays the fee of £19.20) and enrolls biometrics which are automatically sent to HO.

Thanks alot

You arrive and go through airport style security.

You then get sent to the first section where what you are applying for is checked.

You are then sent to the next section where you 'pick a number' and wait to be called by a caseworker.

They will ask you for specific documents and tell you to wait.

You will then be called to enroll biometrics.

Then you wait some more.

Once caseworker is done and a decision is made, you will be called and given a) your documents back and b) the decision.

BRP Card arrives by courier within 7 to 10 days if application on the day is successful.

It can take a couple of hours or it can take many hours (I have sat from 8:30am to 3pm once).

Hello back again.
Was just wondering about my wife's driving situation.
Is she allowed to drive on her Mexican licence for 12 months now that we have the flr visa or will she have to apply for a provisional?
Thanks

FLR doesn't impose any new restriction on driving with a non-GB licence. After 12 months of residence your wife will have to apply for a Provisional licence.

Check it for yourself in this link:
