Spouse visa holidays allowed?

Post by Chicovilla » Sat Apr 29, 2017 3:06 pm

MMy wife is from Hong Kong and us currently applying for a spouse visa to join me and live with me in UK. She has been told that she cant take many holidays once she is in UK, as this will affect her application for ILR.

Is it reasonable to return to Hong Kong to see family once a year, and to go on a few holidays with me a year, and will this affect her visa. Travel out of UK would be maximum of 40 days a year spread throughout year and mostly with me. Many thanks!

Who told you/her that? They are telling lies.

She is allowed to go on holiday 5 times a year if she wishes to. For ILR, she requires residence but HO won't bar her from going on holiday.

There is no such limit of 40 days per year for ILR. Your wife is free to enjoy holidays outside of the UK, with or without you.

Spouse visa - financial docs

Post by Chicovilla » Fri May 05, 2017 9:20 am

Hi

I am sponsoring my wife, who is making a spouse visa application. One of the documents I am required to submit are Bank statements. I do online banking with First Direct - an internet bank. They are able to post out a hard copy of my bank statements, but although on official headed paper it will be marked "duplicate copy". I have heard that a copy is not sufficient and an original is required. Problem is an original does not exist as it is internet banking!
I personally think what I can provide should be sufficient, but can anyone offer their opinion?
many thanks.

Bank statements should be fine.

Also please see multiple posts (cick) and kindly keep all your questions on the same application in one topic (this one).

The problem according to the visa agency consultant in Hong kong is the wording "duplicate copy" appearing on the statement. My bank can't do anything about this as i have already asked.

Other members have reported success with the same on their statements ordered from the bank.

Why are you using an agent?

Thanks re. the bank statements. That was my opinion too.
We are using an agency to help us with the application and check through once completed. Wanted to make sure everything was in place.

You need to check everything YOURSELF completely too.

Please please please do not rely wholly on the agent to get this right. It is not their loss if things go horribly wrong. There are so many tales of woe on the forum of people using agents or solicitors and them getting even the most basic applications horribly wrong or messing up so badly. Some agents have even slipped in fraudulent documents to 'help' without the applicant even being aware this has been done.
