Can Tier 2 Dependant work on multiple jobs?

Hi there,

My husband is on Tier 2 General visa and I'm on Tier 2 General dependant visa. I currently have a full time permanent job but keep getting offers for freelance/contract jobs in my field.

1. Can I take up these jobs along with my full time job?
2. If yes, how many such jobs can I take up? Are there any hours restriction on how many hours a week I can spend on freelance/contract jobs?
3. How do I need to manage my tax on such jobs?

Any other details I should know.

Your choice. No restriction except the one printed on your visa, i.e. no work as Dr/Dentist in training.

Wrt above point, can you elaborate more? Do you mean approach an external Ltd. company or form a Ltd.company myself and then take up contract jobs?

If I acquire freelance work through online portals, do I need to pay tax on it? IF yes and if the portals themselves have their tax rules to adjust & pay me accordingly, do I still need to do anything from my end to ensure these secondary earnings aren't considered illegal?

If you work online, you have to declare your earnings yourself to HMRC and pay the appropriate tax and NI, either as self employed or through a Limited company. You are free to set up your own limited company if you wish or you can register as self employed with HMRC.

There is NO restriction on 'second income/job' for PBS Dependents.
