Normally you should mark other in field 21 of the schengen application form and write family member eu.

Nr. 8 is not a valid reason to deny a visa for the family memer of a eu citizen.
If you want you can file a complaint to the eu commission. The problem is it can take up to 6 month.
hi mgb please advice after refusal i made a new complaint by solvit and earlier before refusal by eu commission. can i apply again the same visa by french embassy or better to wait of outcome solvit and eu commision. it takes one month to get a appointment by french embassy. kindly your advicemgb wrote:In such a case the refusal is illegal.

If there is no solution just bring them to the european court.lidia_9 wrote:No progress in my case yet, its more than 115 days since i have applied, contacted solvit 50 days ago and they say they are working on it actually they are cooperative over the phone, submitted complaint to eu com as well lets see what they do. I hope solvit will be helpful.
