Hi,

I am planning to send my application in a couple of days.
I read that the new Tier 1 rules would be applicable from April.

Please confirm.

I had the same question, and some people actually called the Home Office and were told that the Tier 1 rules will apply on all new applications received on or after 29 February. So it is conflicting with what's on the link you posted.

Hence, if you were planning to apply in a couple of days, then I suggest you wait for an announcement and find out what scheme your application will be considered against, so that you submit the most appropriate evidence. If you specifically want to be considered against HSMP rules, then you need to make sure your application reaches there by Thursday 28 February.

I just rang them and they said the new rules have not begun yet. I explained that 29th Feb was listed in the green paper and they just repeated that the new rules had not begun yet.

Yes. I am also thinking that it is better to wait and get more clarity. We can ring them again in first week of march and be sure about the system as intalex suggests.

The following link states that for new applicants, the HSMP scheme will remain in place until April 2008 (Indian nationals) or British summer (rest of the world):
