You do not need any savings if you meet the income threshold by salaried employment.
Simon,
Can you please refer us to written proof for this assertion?
From what I read in Appendix FM of the immigration laws it states you need both
Financial requirements
E-ECP.3.1. The applicant must provide specified evidence, from the sources listed in paragraph E-ECP.3.2., of-

(a) a specified gross annual income of at least-
(i) £18,600;
(ii) an additional £3,800 for the first child; and
(iii) an additional £2,400 for each additional child; alone or in combination with
(b) specified savings of-
(i) £16,000; and

I believe I have highlighted the written proof in bold above. You are misreading it! ALONE = £18,600 NO Savings. OR in combination with B) Savings.

hus7876 wrote:Just to update, as i waited for a reply by email i had to call up UKVI via the paid service, which cost me a further £20, once i was connected and handed my wife's GWF ref and IHS Number, i was told the visa had been rejected as i did not hit the Income Threshold, which confused me as i am currently earning over £21000, The advisor said i was told about this on the 5th March via email, however the only email we received was in regards to the Pause in place also on the 5th March, i told them this and was told he would escalate my case, and would take a further 15 days to escalate.

What frustrates me is the fact we have to pay to chase up information regarding our own circumstances, which we should really have the right to know anyway.

has anyone else tried to call UKVI? what was the response? Please share

I received the following email about 10 mins after the call.

Dear Husam ,
Many thanks for contacting UKVI and in response to your e-mails dated: June 10, 2017 application reference no. GWF000000000.

I have made an escalation request on your wife's application as discussed earlier on phone today.

Hi Husan

Was your income of 21,000 for the whole year? Or have you just started recently earning this amount say in the last 6 months for example

Congrats PCP! Finally some good news to people in similar situation of "case not straightforward" email.

Did you receive any "awaiting for a decision" status email from UKVI?

Hi Uk12

Heres the link. try it with your GWF number. type gwf..... and see what the status is.

If not then put your VAF number. just the number.

For me both the number are not recognized. For some its awaiting decision.

Do post what you get as on date. Thanks in advance.

From our experience, the tracker only worked after the decision was made. Before that it was only saying reference number not recognized.

This is mainly for inside uk applications so do not take it as gospel as tracker for outside uk applications.

HI PCP. Very happy for you.

The below info is for everyone whos breaking their heads over calling and emailing UKVI.

I have applied from India under category F- non priority. There is no reason why my application should take this much time but it is so.
My spouse called the UKVI and asked for an upate to which the only response was that the application has gone through processing stage and is yet to reach the decision making centre. I have read the posts on this forum and its clear that we all have been given different information at different times with no sign of progress. (least in my case). When i had called for a status check I was told that its awaiting decision but this time when my spouse called it had gone through processing stage.
So we asked what are the steps to get a decision- This entire call was a 40 minute call
1) Once application is made a VAF number is generated post which the documents are expected.
2) Once documents are received the VAF number is allocated to an ECO and documents are processed as in copies are taken and files are arranged (this stage itself has taken approx 3 months for me)
3) Then another officer checks the records and sends it to the decision making center where the case is evaluated
4) After the case is evaluated it goes to the commissioner for approval.

It was confirmed on the call that there are backlogs and the checks have become very strict. Also there were internal changes. My spouse spoke with the agent and the manager at the call centre who provided this information and also said that he has given a lot information than he should.
Also the case not straigtforward email is a standard email that goes to appicants who havent heard from them in 60 working days.
The suprising part is none of queries were resolved on email but they sent us emails for all our pending queries stating that we have resolved your query.

Thats all for now.. :)

The agents on UKVI service both e-mail or telephone will have access to limited information. They are a third party contractor for the UKVI

With the previous provider (before 1st June) all we got was the standard replies and that is when they bothered to reply. The new service which i called twice again just said it waiting decision. They could not tell me if the application was processed as priority.

After the second call , i did not bother. For those that are waiting I know its tough but if you are over the 60 working days service standard then contact your MP as parliament is now back in session and they can look into it for you.

Have you called them up to chase your application? and also try to get your local MP involved, the status checker does not always work unfortunately.
