Voluntary work on Tier 2(G)

Post by tier21419 » Mon Jul 03, 2017 12:21 pm

Hi,
I would like to do some voluntary work on Tier 2 (G) for someone other than my sponsor. My questions are;
1) Is this voluntary work needs to with a charity, a voluntary organization, an associated fund-raising body; or I could do this with any organization (Engineering, IT firms etc.)? Is it easy to convince employers to give voluntary work
to Tier 2 visa holders, Any experiences?
2) Also, for my ILR application, how will I be able to prove that I have not received any money for this voluntary work or I should NOT mention this voluntary work during my ILR application?

Thanks

Could you please elaborate how you have answered my question? I did not get any information from your answer.

Sorry but your reply does not make any sense.

OP is eligible to work volunteer on Tier-2 G

https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/overview

You can:

work for your sponsor in the job described in your certificate of sponsorship
do a second job in certain circumstances
do voluntary work
study as long as it doesn’t interfere with the job you’re sponsored for
travel abroad and return to the UK
bring family members with you

Many thanks, @muhdkhokhar. Do you know if this voluntary work can be with any firm? and also, any idea about my second question?

Thanks

Voluntary work does not as some would have you believe allow you to do anything and everything you please. It is not a way of working that escapes the secondary or supplementary rules for Tier 2.
If the voluntary work can be considered as an unpaid role that denies a settled worker a role and is not for a charitable organisation don't be surprised if it is questioned as a breach of your visa conditions.

There is a distinct difference between unpaid work and volunteering

To quote the Guidance:
'Voluntary work
230.You can also undertake voluntary work in any sector.'

Does this mean that you can do any job as long as you remain unpaid in any benefits of kind?
