Home Office can and will hold passports for more than 120 days. There are lots of people here in this forum that have applied in early December with still no response. I know people on this forum who have passed 140 working days and still waiting.Fatzipoo wrote:Even the emails every week are gonna cost you over £5 per email lol. However, the issue is my husband has missed a training in Dubai because of this, and there's one coming up in Japan in August, so he really needs his passport as I really don't know how long they'll take. Obviously I don't want to withdraw but I just want to know if they'll still make a decision or not. Apparently they cannot hold the passport for longer than 120 working days I heard, not sure how true it is but apparently after this we can appeal or escalate the case. Has anyone ever escalated the case here?

Hi Fatzipoo - By today it is 142 not out. Yes, I have been waiting 142 days (Overall 205 days). Looks like there is no rule or standard for UKVI keeping passports with them. Escalation is really useless. UKVI contact centre had escalated 4 times to sheffield office. Recently Sheffield office came back to me repeating the old msg : U r case not straight forward. We dont have timeline. We will get back to you when required. thats it . that means indirectly they r saying even not to contact UKVI contact centre.Fatzipoo wrote:Even the emails every week are gonna cost you over £5 per email lol. That's the same date as me! I submitted my application online on 5th May and my husband did his biometrics on 9 May. What do you mean re-consider?Misskatie wrote:I used priority and docs submitted 5.5.17, not too sure how many working days that's classed as.
I've got my MP looking into it. She has just advised me that she spoke to the HO and they have passed the application back to the decision maker for re consideration, as I as the sponsor meet all the requirements.
I really hope that this means this hold is over or at least they will look further into the ones on hold
Hi miss owlMissOwl wrote:Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I've read all 30 pages of thr previous thread about "pause", or hold, whichever you prefer I'm Ukrainian, my husband is English and we have a ukrainian-born son who has a British passport due to his dad being english. UKVI sent my passport with a "pause" letter on the 59-th working day. My husband has already contacted his MP, since we meet financial requirements, and have a british child, but does that even help?
So timeline:
Application submitted - 23rd March 2017
Biometrics taken - 03 April 2017
Recieved passport with no decision and "pause" letter - 3 July 2017
My husband rang the enquiry service on the 30th of June and they said "awaiting a decision", nothing about the pause or case being not straightforward. Very frustrated.
Good luck everyone, hope this pause ends soon

That's very strange you got back your passport after a long exhausting wait and that to with a pause ?!? What does that mean ... should you re apply or wait for them to ask your passport again ?!
Oh I see .... all the best !! I'm sure good news will come soonMissOwl wrote:Geet1328 wrote:Hi miss owlMissOwl wrote:Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I've read all 30 pages of thr previous thread about "pause", or hold, whichever you prefer I'm Ukrainian, my husband is English and we have a ukrainian-born son who has a British passport due to his dad being english. Geet1328,
They will contact me as soon as they are able to conclude my application, apparently. There's no telling when that will be though. I understand some people get their passports back, some get the supporting documents, but not passports. I only got my passport.
I don't know what the MP meant by re consideration. I honestly think the ECO just dismissed the application as I don't meet the financial requirement Puerly through job - I had savings too.Sweetlarkee wrote:That's the same date as me! Your lucky hun atleast your mp is doing something about it! I have been chasing mine for the last 3 weeks and still no help!
Mine is showing as complete on the visa4uk website. Does this mean my application has been decided?Mash17101 wrote:Hi anna,
Not sure why that is but mine is showing complete have those people that got in active did they get there visa or was it bad news.
What date is yours showing as decided from?
I don't think the visa4uk site status has any link to it.. but please check on https://contact-ukvi.homeoffice.gov.uk/ ... visastatusSweetlarkee wrote:Mine is showing as complete on the visa4uk website. Does this mean my application has been decided?Mash17101 wrote:Hi anna,

Hi taffet ... all the best !! Hope you read your good news soon .. sorry but can't see your timeline ?!?!taffet87 wrote:Have posted timeline above and also on timeline thread...
Please wish me luck... let's see if status tracker is accurate... i will send a follow up email to the contact centre as well as i had paid the £5.48 a while back
Thank you taffett! I check on the above tracker 100 times in a day however it still shows as my gwf number not being recognised. I wonder if it was always complete or whether it shows as complete once a decision has been made?taffet87 wrote:I don't think the visa4uk site status has any link to it.. but please check on https://contact-ukvi.homeoffice.gov.uk/ ... visastatusSweetlarkee wrote:Mine is showing as complete on the visa4uk website. this is where you get a decision date as well...
for what's it worth my wife's status on visa4uk is also showing as "complete" but I am not sure what it used to be before and when it changed to "complete".
I know that on the visa status check site it changed this afternoon as I was checking it regularly and a couple of hours ago it was not recognising the GWF number
Hi MashMash17101 wrote:Hi sweetlarkee,
If visas for uk is showing complete then your application has been decided after a couple of days it will show up on the tracker as decided so you should get your decision and your passport should follow after a few days of that.
Goodluck
