Hi there everyone!

Just checking if you could give me your thoughts on my case.

Applied on the 13th of June for PR and the online updated I have received was payment being taken 4 days later. Other than that, I haven't got a confirmation email or a biometric letter.

Should I expect the biometric letter on the post? (That has been my understanding)
I'm just a bit worried because I need my passport back in September! Quite annoyed I haven't even got the biometric info, that's why I haven't requested my passport.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi All,
I have found this forum to be quite informative and it has helped me a lot. Was unable to register earlier as I just discovered that my registration account key kept going to my spam email. I want to share my experience as some members in similar situation my find it useful. It is the least I can do.
I applied as a family member of an EEA National with retained rights of residence.
Married: May 2011
Residence Card: February 2012. Post graduate visa still active as at then.
Decree Absolute: September 2014 -Applied for retained right of residence soon after.
BRP Application sent : 01/02/2017. Applied with a letter requesting for BRP. No forms used.
Biometrics done: March 2017
BRP Card received: 13/07/2017 date on card 10/07/2017. In total, 5months and 9 days.

I am aware that some of the members here received letters advising of when they acquired permanent residence and when their documents will be received. This is not the case for me. The letter just advised that if there are errors on the card, I should contact an address they provided.

In any case, I contacted Homeoffice on 0300123225.
I was advised to send a letter to the address below and request for the date I acquired my status to know when to apply for naturalisation.
I will update you when I receive my response and the rest of my documents

All,

Have received all many docs back today and a letter stating that the date I’ve acquired PR is the 11th February 2012.

It also states that I should apply for citizenship after 12 month of acquiring the PR status...

Can you guys confirm here that my understanding is correct ? I can now apply for citizenship ?

Many thanks in advance,
D

Be patient. Your biometrics will definitely come before september and once you get certificate of application, you can request for your passport.

From my understanding, its 12 months from the date you acquired your permanent residence. Assuming you meet all other conditions for citizenship. I beg to be corrected if this a wrong assumption.

The date is from marriage date
It is better to do it online. I have noticed those sent through European Passport Service
are decided in a shorter period than those sent by post.
Life in Uk only when applying for citizenship.
Its a long form but simple. Its the documents that you need to send that make the difference. The lawyers are only out to make money. Send as much as you have. Dont think its excessive.

Hi All,

Non-EEA of Bristish Citizen activating treat rights (Surinder Singh) Permanent Residence Card Timelines:

Application Received by HO: 25/11/2016
Biometrics Taken: 13/12/2016
COA arrived: 8/01/2017
Written Complaint sent after 6 months: 06/06/2017
Further information requested from HO including 5 year qualifying proof within UK (ignoring EIND): 13/06/2017
Request MP to expedite case: 24/06/2017
Telephone call from HO to clarify Entry Clearance Record: 12/07/2017
PR card received: 15/07/2017

Online status works with the Post Office Tracking code of the initial application sent rather than the HO reference numbers for me.

Documentation to follow. Got the PR card before the decision letter so whether the expediting/complaint made a difference. No acknowledgment email and just under 8 months from application submitted to PR card received. Good luck.

Hi geesingh,
thanks for your timeline and congratulations for the successful case.
could you please explain the 'qualifying proof' within UK for surrinder singh route as per my understanding qualifying proof doesn't apply for SS route?

Also please share your entry clearance record issue....

have you received your valid passports back sooner after your application?

many thanks

EU citizens attain PR automatically after 5 years of being a qualified person exercising treaty rights. The PR card is ONLY confirmation of that status already attained at an earlier date. A PR card was never mandatory but it is now if an EU citizen wishes to apply for citizenship.

The golden question. Home office staff wont even give the exact details. Your application is still in process.

It is also applicable to Non EEA family members but you will need to fulfill other conditions to apply for Naturalisation. Please follow the link below and look at the requirement guide.
