ILR when married to a British Citizen

Post by Gr3mlin » Fri Jul 21, 2017 11:10 am

Apologies if wrong thread to post on.

My wife was born in South Africa, we have been married for 14 years, I am British/Welsh by birth. Her Great Grand Father was English born 1870. What would be her UK immigration status, as it relates to relocation and residing in the UK?

Thank you.

Spouse. Great Grandfather too far back for ancestry visa.

She'd need to apply for a spouse visa, and you'd need to meet the financial tests as her sponsor...

She is a non-EU citizen. She would be required to apply for a spouse visa from a country where she holds legal residence (presumably South Africa). The financial, accommodation and relationship would need to be met. It would be 5 years' UK residence (with a visa renewal in the middle) to ILR.

This should get you started:
