Can I change Job in the UK under Tier 2 (General)?

Post by michelaudette » Sat Jul 29, 2017 4:42 pm

Hi;

I am from Canada and I've been hired by a company in the UK under a Tier 2 - General Visa paid by that company and everything was handle via Ernst and Young.

I've been in the UK over 2 years of continuous employment as a Director of Operation and Managing Director of a medium size company.
I'm thinking of getting a new opportunity in the UK as a Vice President for another company that has shown great interest in my qualifications.

Can I use my current Tier 2 Visa as is? Or is it specific to the company I'm currently working for? If so, What do I need to do next for the next company?

Obviously I'm trying to make it easy for the new employer in making this as painless as possible.

Thank you

Michel

Cant use exist T2.

You need to ensure new company can sponsor, if not it will need to obtain a sponsors licence. Then they issue o CoS, advertise for the role in UK and EU and if no-one suitable, ploy someone outside.

Of course here is the spectre of pre-selection, hard to repudiate in cases like this....

Tier 2 - General to Permanent residency

Post by michelaudette » Sun Jul 30, 2017 7:53 am

Hello;

I'm a Operations Director from Canada and I've been in the UK under a Tier 2 company sponsored Visa for just over 2 years and I really like the UK and would like to apply for a permanent residency.
Another reason for my request is to allow me to change employer which I was told is difficult under this type of visa.

Is this something possible?

Thank you

Michel

In order to apply for ILR (PR), you must have 5 years residence as a Tier 2 General migrant, so no it is not possible at this stage if you have only been in the UK for 2 years.

You will need to find a new sponsor and apply for a visa in country to change employers as Wanderer has advised. It is not that difficult if all the correct procedures and processes are done. Many people have done it.
