Naturalisation and a Student with no health insurance

Post by Trabant » Sun Aug 13, 2017 12:19 am

Hi.
I spent the whole 2 days looking for a straigthforward answer and I cannot find anything - so maybe my topic and answers in here will help some people with similar problem.

I am attending ceremony at the end of month so I will be British Citizen soon.

My wife wants to apply to be naturalised as BC and she already does have Permanent Resicence Card (EU)
Her PR was granted in November 2016
I thought she could apply for BC just after I got my certificate of naturalisation as a spouse of BC - but:
-my wife was a student septemper 2014 to june 2016
-since september 2016 she does have permanent work
-we are married for the past 10 years
-she never had any additional health insurance

(reassuming - she needs to proove 3 years of residence - 2 years student with no additional health insurance and 1 year working)

I found some info that it could be the case that she never needed this insurance as I was working all this time and she was my dependant (wife). What are your thoughts?

If this is ok- I heared that while applying I would be her "sponsor" or she would be my "dependant". How do I mark this on the application to not to make a mistake?
Could you clarify this please?

Additionally I have a little question about my children - just to be sure - My children are born in the UK before we got our PR. They are 4 and 6 years old. I found out information in few spots that they don't need PR to be registered as BC (I am asking because few sources mentioned that I have to have PR document for both of them - I have it for one of them but the other one is to young to be issued with such a document)

Thank you for any help and understanding
Regards
Trabant

She will qualify after you naturalise, provided of course she does not qualify in her own right already.

If the PR card was issued in November 2016 following application, it is likely that it was acquired before that.

Thank you for a quick response. The card was issued in February 2017 but the attached document stated that she has gained PR in November 2016. The only thing I was worried about is lack of comprehensive sickness insurance. I'm glad that it is not a problem in this case. Thanks again.
