I'm disabled, future wife moving to the UK

Post by Lagerbreath » Sun Mar 09, 2008 4:23 pm

Hi,

Me and my partner are in a desperate state with this so I was wondering if someone could help. I'm disabled and living on my own here in the UK, my partner is moving from the USA and will be living with me. The problem is that because i'm disabled I claim Income Support, Disability Living Allowance, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

When looking for information on a visa for her it states that you must show that you can support yourselves without any public funds, i'm really starting to worry because I cannot work because of my disability and we are very eager to get married and spend our lives together and don't think we can do this if we didn't have the help i now get.

Please can someone give me some advice,

Thanks

James

Are you applying for a fiancee or a spouse visa?

Whichever one would get my fiancee here to live with me, Something doesn't seem right if a disabled UK resident can't bring his wife to live with him in the UK, surely there is a way round it so I can still claim what i'm entitled to and she can work too?
