Change employer only one year tier 2 left

Hi everyone

I am kindly asking for your help.
My tier 2 starts from Dec 2013, I changed my employer in Sep 2015. Thus current tier 2 start from Sep 2015 to Sep 2018.
I intend to apply for a ILR after 5 years' tier2 , which is Dec 2018. That give 3 months gap between Dec to Sep. I suppose I can apply for tier 2 extension if I stay in the same employer.

My question is:
if I want to change my employer before Sep 2018, which is my current tier 2 expired time, can I get a tier 2 visa valid till Dec 2018? Given one can only hold tier 2 for 5 years, I guess the new tier 2 would not exceed Dec 2018, is that right?

You can hold Tier 2 (General) visa for up to 6 years. So, you can even extend it to Dec 2019.

above advise is correct. If you get a 3 year cos, u will get a visa till dec 2019.
