My wife needs to Extend her visa next September

Post by michaelm9945 » Fri May 19, 2017 10:46 pm

My wife arrived here last November 2014 on a 2-Year route on a spouse visa and she will now need to extend her visa again in September for another 2 1/2 years before she can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.

She has already Passed and received Certificates for the Life in UK test and the Englsih B1 test. I'm on disability, so I was exempt from the financial side of things when she applied for her visa.

What forum will she need to Fill-in? can you give me a direct link for the forum?

And what supporting documents will we need? My wife's name is only on our council Tax bills, Marriage Certificate and the Tenancy agreement. How far back does my bank statements and bills need to go?

This is the list of bills and other documents I have

Disability Living Allowance
Letter from the Doctor why I can't work
Employment and support allowance
Child Benefit/Child Tax Credit
Bank statements
Council Tax
Housing Benefit entitlement
Tenancy Agreement
Npower statements
Marriage Certificate
Birth Certificates
Water Bills

Thank you

I've moved your post to the correct sub-forum as your wife's application isn't relevant to the EEA route.

You must submit bank statements covering the last 6 months.

You are required to send 6 pieces of evidence of co-habitation in joint names (or 12 in single names) from at least 3 different sources, spread as evenly as possible over the full 2.5 year period. As a general guidance, one (or two if in single names) every 4-5 months.

The Life in the UK test isn't required until your wife applies for ILR in another 2.5 years time.

In addition to the visa fee you will also have to pay the £500 IHS (NHS) surcharge.

The form is FLR(M)
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -form-flrm

What date exactly does your wife's current visa expire and when did she first enter the UK?

Thank you for the Reply

Is that the correct forum for visa extensions?

Is my following supporting documents ok?

My Tenancy Agreement from November 2014-December 2016
My New Tenancy agreement from December 2016-Present (I just moved house last December)
Disability Living allowance award (Proves I have a disability)
Bank statements from last 6 months
Utility Water Bill covering last 6 months
Npower covering last 6 months
Council Tax covering last 6 months (my wife's name is on it)
My wife's hospital Record Book (She will give Birth soon)
my wife's cervical screening test letter
My wife's National insurance letter

What about photo Evidence? and what if my wife got a letter from the Doctor?

Yes, this is the correct sub-forum.

Regarding proof of joint address for the 2.5 year period, note in my previous post that these should be spread as evenly as possible throughout the 2.5 year qualifying period...not purely during the 6 months prior to submitting the application:

"You are required to send 6 pieces of evidence of co-habitation in joint names (or 12 in single names) from at least 3 different sources, spread as evenly as possible over the full 2.5 year period. As a general guidance, one (or two if in single names) every 4-5 months."

Photo evidence isn't required.

Thank you again for your reply

I called a couple placed earlier. I called Npower and asked if I could call back on September and ask for them to send out a backdated statements for the past 2.5 years for my Npower bills and they said "That was ok"

I also called Utility waters and they told me that me and my wife's name is on the statements and they also agreed to send out backdated statements for the past few months

So, I will get statements covering the past 6 months-2.5 years for the following

Bank statements (Last 6 months, my name)

NPower (Last 2 years)(My name)

Disability Living Allowance (Last 2 years, my name)

Employment and support allowance (Last 2 years, my name)

Water bills (Last 6 months, Both our names)

Child Tax Credit (Last 2 years, both our names)

Council Tax (Last 2 years, both our names)

Tenancy Agreement Old (Both of our names)

Tenancy Agreement New (Both of our names)

My wife's National insurance letter

02 bills (Last few months)

TalkTalk (Last 2 years)

TV License (Award)

Housing Benefit (Award)

My wife's Hospital Records

My wife's Cervical Screening Test letter

My wife's Hospital Letters

Healthy Start Vouchers

So, there's about 9 supporting documents I mentioned above with just my name. There's also 4 with just my wife's name and there's 5 with both of our names.

I will contact all the places above such as council tax, tax credit, disability living Allowance etc on september and ask for them to send out backdated statements covering the last 2.5 years.

So, is this all good? or do I need more?

This is regarding my new Topic asking about my wife's visa extension.

She delayed her travel to the UK by a couple months while waiting for our daughters British Passport. Her visa was issued on November 2014

Kindly post your question again in this topic rather than expect members to dig around in other sub forums to find it.

She must apply before her current visa expires. Hopefully she has very close (within 28 days) of 2.5 years so as to avoid an additional extension in future to cover a couple of months.

I thought you said that she entered the UK on November 24th, with a visa expiry date of October 7th 2017 :?: Surely then the visa was issued for 33 months, not 2 years as you posted in your other thread?

My wife's visa will expire on October 7th this year. How soon can she apply at a premium service center for the FLR visa extension. Can she extend her visa now?

If she applies now, it will create a shortfall for the ILR requirement and she will need a 3rd FLR(M) extension.

She should apply within 28 days before her visa expiry date.

How much will it cost in full to apply in a Premium center including the Immigration Health Surcharge? and the Biometrics information that my wife will need at the center?

Premium centre costs £1,583 PLUS the £500 immigration health surcharge. There is no extra cost for biometrics if applying in person, it is part of the process on the day of the appointment.

So, it will cost £2,083 in total to apply at the Premium center? what about the application fee?

And my wife doesn't have a Biometric Residents Permit. Does that matter?

What application fee? £2083 is the total cost (visa fee, IHS fee, premium centre fee).

No as her visa is currently in her passport. She will get a BRP 7-10 days after her appointment if her application is successful.

So, the IHS fee will be paid at the premium center? and when we pay on the day at our appointment, will she get a decision on the same day? I read that it takes 5 days for the payment to go through and you will get a decision after the payment goes through. I'm kind of confused about that

All fees are paid online when you book your premium service appointment. They do not take any payments on the day of the appointment.

You heard wrong. I did all my applications at the premium centre when they still took payments, and received my decision on the day of the appointment. Now you pay online.

I'm going to book my appointment and pay the IHS fee tomorrow and I'm confused about something.

My wife has 2 passports. She has her visa on her expired passport with her maiden name (expired last year) and a more recent passport with my family name before she entered the UK (not expired)

When I add my wife's details on the Online Booking application such as name, date of birth and Passport number

My question is. Can I add my wife's passport number for her expired passport with the visa? but keep her name as it appears in her current passport (my family name?)

Immigration Health Surcharge

Post by michaelm9945 » Fri Aug 11, 2017 10:43 pm

My wife's visa expires on October 7th and I've just paid the IHS yesterday and I was about to book my wife's Premium service appointment today for September 16th until I called the Home Office and this is what they told me.

"The IHS is only valid for 30 days and I will have to pay again closer to the expiration of my visa"

They advised me to wait until September 10th and book for September 16th.

I voiced my complaint, because no where on the internet does it tell me that the IHS is only valid for 30 days. So according to them, since I paid my IHS yesterday, then it will expire on September 10th

Can someone Clarify if this is the truth?

You pay IHS when you book an appointment.

and never heard that its valid for 30 days lol

in fact if you don't pay IHS at the time of making application then UKVI contact you to pay it within 7 or 10 days depend if you are inside or outside UK before refusing your application

This is the first I've heard of the IHS having a 30-day expiry date. It doesn't make sense since the IHS covers the length of the visa. The key thing with the premium appointment is that you book it within a period that falls within the expiration of the current visa. Somewhere online it says Premium appointments can be booked 42 days in advance. However, to be on the safe side book your appoint to fall within the last 28 days of the current visa.

I paid the IHS payment on the 10th August. Is it ok to use the IHS reference number for my Premium service application for 16th September? even know my IHS reference number will be more than 30 days old

My wife's visa has expired

Post by michaelm9945 » Fri Aug 18, 2017 4:07 pm

We looked at her expiration date on her visa wrong and its expired 6 weeks ago. We have already completed the FLR (M) forum and we called the home office and they told us, we need to complete the FLR (FP) forum and take it to the premium service center and explain the reason for her overstaying (we really don't want to change to a 10-year route)

She overstayed because I'm on disability and it took us over a year to save up for this. We finally have the money, this month and my wife's gave birth on June (we have 2 kids)

Can I take both the FLR (M) and the FLR (FP) forums into the premium service center and they will take into consideration the overstay because of financial difficulties and my wife just gave birth?

What date did it expire exactly (as shown on BRP)?

You stated it expires in October?

She is an overstayer now so won't qualify for FLR(M) and FLR(FP) 10 year partner route is the correct form. Her clock basically starts again from zero now.
