Missed submitting old passports with the application

Post by justanothername » Sat Aug 19, 2017 8:05 pm

Hello,

So I submitted my tier 2 general application on Monday and the solicitor did not mention about submitting my old passport. I had applied for a priority service and I have received an email saying they cannot process it in the priority visa timelines. Now I am worried if they will ask me for additional documents to be able to submit the old passports or just flatly refuse them. I have had previous uk visas on the passport.
I had mentioned the passport details in the application form but I am worried that it won't be sufficient.
Any help would be great.

Thanks

No one would know exactly why you have received the letter that your application will not be treated with priority service. It might not be related to your old passport. However, ideally, you should support your old passports in your application. You will usually be asked in the application form about old passport and if they are still available to be submitted.
You can only wait for the outcome of the application. A nice case worker might contact and ask for additional information if required. I am not sure if you can provide an additional document at this stage without being asked. I guess you just have to wait for the outcome. You can also speak with your solicitor

Thanks for the reply.
Are there chances of the visa getting refused if I did not submit the old passports as per the rules? I couldn't find on internet the cases where this has happened? But it's likely that only a few people miss submitting their old passports :(

It depends on the case worker. If the case worker is satisfied with all other documents without the old passport, then he/she can approve the visa. And if not satisfied, he/she can either contact you and ask you to provide the additional document or can simply return the application to you as an incomplete document. I don't think you should be refused based on the absence of the old passport except if they have reasons to believe that you deliberately withheld the passport/ important information.
