Child British passport

Post by Shishirus2003 » Tue Aug 29, 2017 9:48 am

Hi,
Apologies if it's answered before but I can't find it anywhere.
I and my wife both got ILR in Sep 2016(Indian citizen) and now we were blessed with a daughter just 2 weeks before. I know she is a British citizen by birth and I want to apply for her passport before our naturalization application to avoid various biometric card issues which previous posters faced.
As far as I am aware I need to send daughter's passport application form, photos, her birth certificate for passport application. Can someone please suggest if I need to send both mine and wife's passport and ILR biometric for my daughter's passport application along with marriage certificate or just 1 parents passport and ILR are enough?
Thanks in advance

Yes you need to send EITHER of your passports and ILR BRP's to prove you were settled at the time of her birth.

Apply using the one week fast track for child passport.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I can't use the fast track as I live in Birmingham and all centres are quite far from here.
Can I use normal post office check and send service? How long does it take with normal service?

Yes you can. Passport could take up to 6 weeks, maybe a bit longer.

Many thanks. Last question, in fast track do they still keep parent passport and ILR or do they return it same time?

You can send copies but they could ask for the originals.

Actually, my question was that if I use fast track service will they return my passport and ilr at the time of application/appointment or will they keep it and send it by post with my daughter's passport?

Can you please let me know what do I need to with section 5
"has the person named in section 2 been granted a certificate of registration or naturalisation"
I guess answer should be 'No' as she is a british citizen from birth due to parents ILR. Can you please confirm

Your guess that they require truthful answers is correct.
