Free Childcare for 2-year-olds Benefit

Post by alex132 » Thu Sep 14, 2017 5:36 pm

I am holding a Tier 4 Student visa, my wife and my daughter (1 year old) are holding Tier 4 dependent Visa.

One of the benefits that very close to me is "tax credits and you have an annual income of under £16,190 before tax".

1. Can I apply for Free Childcare for 2-year-olds?
https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare- ... s-benefits

However, I have not apply Tax Credits before. Anyone holding Tier 4 Student visa's kid able to get Free Childcare for 2-year-olds

Thank you very much

Hi, Sorry for confusing.
I wish to keep this post under "Claiming Benefit".

The reason is "Free childcare for 2-years-old" is under benefit part.

Thank you very much.

You cannot claim benefits as you were already advised by Sah in your other thread with your other username.

It is not the child that claims. It is the parent and you are not permitted to claim benefits.

You cannot claim this or tax credit, you are a student/student depenant and not entitled.

Of course not! Your friend is already aware that he will probably get caught and will have to face the consequences.

Refusal of any visa applications including extensions:
"You must consider refusing the application under paragraph 322(3) of the Immigration Rules
if they have claimed public funds but their conditions of leave state they cannot access
them. This is because they have breached the conditions of their stay
."
AND
"If an applicant has received public funds that have a negative impact on their application, but
not declared this on their form, you must refuse the application under paragraph 322(1A) of
the Immigration Rules
."

You would also have to repay in full any benefits you have claimed without entitlement.

Your only option may be a hardship claim if you qualify under the International Student Childcare Remission Scheme. The following information is from Warwick University

It appears that as a Tier 4 student you may be entitled to 15 hours of free childcare (during term time only) if your Tier 4 dependent is working at least 16 hours a week. This is from the term commencing after your child's 3rd birthday.

You are unable however to claim Child Tax Credits.

It appears that as a Tier 4 student you may be entitled to 15 hours of free childcare (during term time only) if your Tier 5 dependent is working at least 16 hours a week. This is from the term commencing after your child's 3rd birthday.

You are unable however to claim Child Tax Credits.
Do you mean Tier 4 dependent (not Tier 5 dependent)? For 3-year-old, all are entitled for Free childcare 3-year-old.

Yes, Tier 4 dependent (I've edited my post). Only 15 hours for an International Student and only if the other parent (dependent) is working.

NRPF = No Recourse To Public Funds

"There have been no changes to the free childcare that is available in England for two year old children, which many NRPF families are unable to access because eligibility is generally linked to the parent being in receipt of certain welfare benefits that cannot be claimed by people with NRPF."
http://www.nrpfnetwork.org.uk/News/Pages/childcare.aspx

I'm guessing that if your friend was awarded free childcare for his 2 year old child, that he was also fraudulently claiming child tax credits.
