Job change before UK settlement visa application for Non EU spouse

Post by mike5745 » Fri Sep 15, 2017 3:03 pm

Hi All.

Im new here, so if I have posted in the incorrect section of the forum please advise :D

So this is the current situation
-----------------------------------------------------------
I am the Uk citizen living in London. My wife with whom I have been married to for over 2 years is from Thailand. We have a 2 year old son together who has both Thai and British citizenship.
My wife is currently in the UK with me and our son on a 6 month visit visa.

I have been working in my current job since 6th march this year. My salary exceeds the financial requirement of 18,600 per annum. So it is now coming upto 7 months working with this company.

What I would like to do if possible
-----------------------------------------------------------
I would like to change jobs if possible before the end of this month. Reasons for wanting to change have to do with wanting a higher salary and other variables. After the change of job, I would be looking to apply for my wife's settlement visa to the UK.

I am aware that if I apply after starting the new job that I would be going about qualifying for the financial requirement for my wife's settlement visa under category B.

------------------------------------------------------------

My question is, would I be able to meet the financial requirement once I have applied this way? Apologies if this may be a silly question, but I would just like some clarification on this so that I can make the decision to move to another job.

Thanks for listening, and look forward to any reply's or criticism :D

Yes your understanding is correct about category B. You will have to meet this requirement by two ways.
1) you must have earned £18600 during the last 12 months.
2) you must have gross wages of £18600 at the time of application - if salaried person otherwise the average of the total gross wages from all previous jobs during the last 6 months should meet required financial threshold - if non-salaried.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
