My mother-in-law visa

Post by Hava » Thu Sep 21, 2017 4:08 pm

Hello everyone,

This is my first time log in in this account and not sure if this is the right way to use it but would like to share a concern of mine if you and I would really appreciate your help.

So my husband who is a British Citizen is planning to get his mom for New years here. His dad passed away last year and she lives alone now. I have been looking on gov.uk for the documents We need to provide for her because she is a pensioner and what she gets is not enough to sponsor herself so my husband is the one who gonna be sponsoring her, but Im still a little bit confused. He has his own business here. If there is anyone who has information regarding all documents we need to provide Can you please replay to my post. I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance :)

Visas for non-EEA adult dependent relatives of British citizens are practically impossible to get.

See the following threads:
Adult dependant relative – care requirement
Older dependent relatives

Can the mods move this query to the Family immigration forum?

You should also consider that if your mother-in-law applies for an Adult Dependent visa and this is denied (as is highly likely), the door will be shut for her to visit the UK in the future, due to the prior intention to settle.

Actually I did not mention before but what we will try to get for her is just a visitor visa (6 months) because she doesn't want to come and live here but we wold like to have her only for New Years holiday.

In which case, she will have to submit evidence of strong ties to her home country, including financial self-sufficiency. If your husband is supporting her, this may be a challenge to prove.
