Visitor Visa Outstanding - Ideas Anyone?

Post by Adojay » Fri Sep 22, 2017 2:46 pm

Hi All,

Greetings to you all.

Just wanted to know if any or too many applicants are experiencing same problems. I applied for UK Visitor visa for my sister to visit me here in the UK over the summer period. Unfortunately, up until now am still awaiting decision. Below is a breakdown of timeline:

Applied online: 15th June 2017
Documents submitted at visa centre and first biometric taken: 21st June 2017
Email acknowledgemet of application: 5th July 2017
Received call from HO asking questions re application: 6th July 2017
Email apologising for delay in meeting target date of 15 working days: 11th July 2017
Sister invited for 2nd biometric: 27th July 2017 (No explanation given. Suspect they messed up the 1st one)
Called HO asking for status of application: 4th September 2017.

As you can see from above, it's taken at least 3 months, yet no decision. It cost me £20ish to call their Coventry call centre for enquiry. Was told they will get back to me within 15 days. Still haven't heard from them.

Does anyone know what I can do, apart from just sit and wait? It's just silly that one paid for 2-year visit visa for summer break, and it's now autumn, and no decision has been made.

Anyone with answers, or experience on what I can do, please let me know.

Thank you

Why did you apply for a 2 year one? Has she had one without issues before?

This is her first application. Frankly, I wasn't ready to go through this anytime soon so I thought it was better to apply for 2 years, as no rule in their guideline states you cannot do so. Worst case, they will issue 6 months. Also, I got given 2 years visa when I first applied for UK visas.

Do you reckon that could be a problem?

absolutely not. length does not matter...

can I ask you which country she applied from ? TB listed country etc.

all the applications I made on for my relatives hv been quick..within their published service standards.

has she been denied entry to any other country ?

Thanks for coming back to me.

I applied online here in the UK on her behalf. All she did was visit the UK Visa centre in Nigeria to submit documents and carry out biometrics.

She has never applied for visas before, and so never been denied entry to any country.

Am really frustrated now, as I am unable to reach HO to enquire without making payments to Sitel (their outsourced call centre). I am still awaiting feedback from the previous one I made on the 4th of September. Honestly, don't know what to do or how to handle this gooing forward. How long a wait for decision is considered too long?

Any ideas from you all will be appreciated.
