I am a final year student of law in India, I have been selected for a semester exchange programme at a reputed college in London.
The course is for less than 6 months (January 8 to July 15) I have got an acceptance letter and CAS number from them.
The acceptance letter says :-
‘STUDENT VISA PREPARATION:
European nationals do not require a visa/entry clearance to enter the UK. All other nationals require either a Student Visitor Visa (programmes less than 6 months) or a Tier 4 General Student Visa (programs more than 6 months/ability to work).
To request a Tier 4 visa, please begin by requesting a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number using the Study Abroad/Exchange CAS Request Form. Please send a copy of your passport with the completed form.’
Accordingly, I had applied for CAS and have been issued with it.
However, a few travel agents in India are telling me that I wont be able to apply for Tier-4 visa as that is for students whose course is above 6 months only.
When searched online, I could find that for course less than 6 months, the duration of the visa will begin a week prior to classes.
However, the rule book is silent regarding Tier 4 Visa under 6 months.
So, I want to ask if :-
1. I can apply for Tier 4 visa
2. Whats the procedure?
3. If yes, when to apply?
