extending HSMP & switching to tier 1(general)

Post by nibbs08 » Mon Mar 17, 2008 7:57 pm

Hi every one

I think it will be better to have a separate thread for all those who are due or undergoing application for extending their HSMP (and switching ) to Tier 1(general).
I am due for extension for my LTR (after 2 years of HSMP)in the middle of may 2008 and in the mean time there is all this change in visa.Lets discuss the implications of the change and what modification we need to do for the application.

cheers :D

Hey nibbs:

There's a lot of stuff on here already about renewing HSMP under Tier 1.. I'd like to get an idea of the timelines for it.. It seems like most of the people are switching..

Like you, I have to renew by early May, but I also have some travelling to do before that... So I'm just trying to find the right time to renew.

You can show the same account, it just has to have enough funds in it, so 800+533, etc.. for the 3 months.

For the english requirement, I'm all set now, since I come from the US.. But I had gotten a letter from my uni just in case.. Good thing I don't need it now. I thought I read in another post somewhere recently that they are allowing older exams.. you might want to search for that.

check the link http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/workin ... ependants/

the bit concerened is
....The evidence provided can relate specifically to the dependant or it can also include evidence for the main applicant which has not been used as evidence of funds on their own application or that of other dependants...

frankly I don't know how to interpret it :( as it might mean the evidence for previous earning as well!!!

What they mean here is that you can use a bank account to show available funds that belongs to you, or to your partner.. But that all the funds have to add up to the total that you need.. So for example, you can't show your own bank account for 800 pounds for yourself, and then show the same account again and say that the 800 pounds are also for your partner.. You have to show 800+533.. They're basically saying that you can't double count.. No worries, as long as you have the total amount you'll be okay..

The part that I don't like is that we don't have time to prepare, and I'm always moving funds back to the US, so it's a bit more complicated..

Regarding the english bit,I do have degree verified by point based calculater and I have got a certificate from my institution informin regrding the medium being english and am going to use that rather than 6 years old IELTS,only worry is that its a professional degree n ther is a clause in immigration rules which is doubtful
