Student visa questions and ATAS query

Post by path » Sun Sep 24, 2017 10:03 am

Hi,
I am applying for tier 4 student visa. I got a full tuition fee scholarship to do my PhD. I got my scholarship result on 22/9. The course start date is 01/10. I am planning to apply for the ATAS certificate as soon as possible. I found that it takes 20 to 30 working days. After I get the ATAS have to apply for visa. And for visa it take upto 15 working days. By the time I apply for visa my course date is already started (that means I can apply for visa after 01/10 - after getting the ATAS).
Will the visa officer refuse my application?
What can I do on this matter?

Thank you.

Fixed Deposits for Maintenance

Post by path » Sun Sep 24, 2017 10:23 am

Hi,

I am planning to apply for tier 4 general visa. Me and my parents do not have enough money in our savings or current accounts to show the maintenance fee. But do have money in our fixed deposits.
Can I show money in fixed deposits as evidence of funds that is available?

Thank you

This is a question for your Tier 4 sponsor. If there is no later "last enrolment" date on your CAS, the application will be refused. Your sponsor can add such a date, or as a PhD student presumably your start date could be anytime. But you need to speak to your sponsor.

Thank you for your reply.

As in the sent document, I can show funds that are available in my fixed deposit.
Should the bank give a letter mentioning that the money in the fixed deposit can be withdrawn anytime at my request?
And should I show how I got this money? Because I am too young to earn that much of money and have done a job only for few months. ( actually those money was deposited by my parents )

Thank you

This is covered in the link I already posted.

Given your questions about these matters, I strongly advise you speak to your Tier 4 sponsor for advice on your application.

If I am showing money in my father's account, do I have to provide evidence of his occupation ( business registration, profit and loss reports, audit reports) with the uk visa application?

Thank you

Again, given the number of questions and your uncertainty about the rules, you should get advice from your Tier 4 sponsor. They have as big an interest in the success of your application as you do, and they have an international student adviser whose job is to help students with Tier 4 applications. They are highly likely to produce tailored guidance for their students about all the things you are asking about here.

Course fees

Post by path » Thu Sep 28, 2017 12:44 pm

Hi,
I am an international student. I got a studentship to do a PhD.
The studentship offer says
"Studentships shall be awarded for one year in the first instance and may be renewed, subject to satisfactory progress and performance for additional periods, normally upto 3 years in total"

So I like to know do I have to show course fee in my bank account for 28 days when applying for visa ?

Thanks

In the uk Visa website it says to show tuition fees for one year of studies. With the condition that I have on my studentship offer I am not sure if I should show tuition fee for one year or not?

I'm sure they didn't mean this website. Which university is this?

I checked www.gov.uk website. The paragraph in 173 says that we have to show course fee for one year .

I assume you are looking at the Tier 4 Policy Guidance. See paragraph 190 for the different ways you can show evidence that you have money to pay for your fees:

190. The evidence of money that you use must be:
cash funds in the bank (this includes savings accounts and current accounts even when notice must be given); or
a loan letter (the loan must be provided by your national government, state or regional government, or by a government sponsored student loan company or be part of an academic or
      educational loans scheme); or
official financial or government sponsorship available to you.

Note that it says or not and.

I am astonished that your university does not provide detailed guidance on this for their students. Every other university does.

Actually the question I have now is not how to show money. I appreciate your reply. Thank you very much.

On my studentship offer there is a statement as "Studentships shall be awarded for one year in the first instance and may be renewed, subject to satisfactory progress and performance for additional periods, normally upto 3 years in total"
In this case, I would like to know do I have to show course fees for one year or not

Since your university is your official financial sponsor, all the details of the sponsorship should be already on your CAS, including the fact that there are no further tuition fees to be paid.

But moreover, give that your university is both your immigration sponsor *and* your official financial sponsor, it makes no sense that you are resorting to immigration advice on your Tier 4 application from random strangers on the internet!

I strongly advise you speak to the international student adviser again. If they just tell you to look at the gov.uk website, complain to their boss. They have obligations as your Tier 4 sponsor.

My referees told no one contact them.

In the ATAS application I had to fill work experience. If in the certificate they are gonna mention that I need to get my payslips and service letter ready. That’s why I want to know what they normally include in an atas certificate
