H2B for Temp Managerial position?

Post by 205007 » Sat Mar 15, 2008 12:54 am

Hi to all here, i have been attempting to get my mind around the best working entry to the US for some time now and to be truthful i need an honest appraisal of my situation

My circumstances are that i currently have a job opportunity in the US which i am keen to explore.
I have an Honours degree in Science however the role is not specific to my degree
I have 2+ years managerial experience which IS related to my job offer
I am a permanent UK resident

so i was hoping to enter on a H2B visa for up to 12 months and "see how it pans out" maybe i will hate it and come back

Will my prospective employer have any problems attaining a H2B for this type of position as a one time occurance?

im pretty sure i wouldnt get a H1B as my degree is not related, however 12 months would be enough to satisfy my curiosity of working in the US hopefully

.

News item on that:

US reaches H-2B cap for second half of FY2008

You can get an H2B for up to one year, and it may be extended for up to three years total. Since it is a temporary work position that the company must clearly document, use of an H2B for long periods of time is watched carefully.

You can have your company apply to sponsor you on 01 April, and you cannot begin work before 01 October. Only 33,000 are available every six months, and they are being granted out currently within 90 days of becoming available.

thanks that is helpful,

the way i interpret that is for the employer to file the petition and for me to contact the consulate with relevant docs?
