Post by lolo82 » Tue Oct 10, 2017 11:21 am

Hello all.

Well, i finally got my PR Card today :) The card is only valid for 5 years. is this correct? I'll be applying for citizenship before the 5 years so its not a problem. just wanted to bring it to the boards attention in case anyone else has this.

Does it say 'Document Certifying PR?

Just curious if you have not been issued with another Residence Card and not PR.

The current biometric cards HO issues are valid till 2024 as far as I understand as that is the date the EU has set for changes to biometric documents to enhance security features.

So, i spoke to UKVI who confirmed i received a 5 year Res Card. I know i applied with a EEA(PR) application because i filled it out 3 times to ensure everything was correct and clean.

Since i can still work and i will be applying for Citizenship next year, is it worth contacting the UKVI and confirming why i have the EEA2 card again? Especially with the changes Brexit will bring?

What does your letter say??

Has your partner been a qualified person exercising treaty rights for the full 5 years that you are claiming for PR?

If you do not have a document certifying PR you will not be able to apply for British citizenship. A DCPR is mandatory.

From your other topics, you state you are applying for Irish citizenship in November this year??

Im confused...

So the last letter i received states at the end "If you are not the spouse of a British citizen, you must have held PR status in the UK for at least 12 months before you apply. See above for the date on which you are deemed to have acquired permanent residence status - this may differ to the date of issue recorded on your permanent residency card"

My husband has been exercising his treaty rights for the full 5 years. he has never had a break in employment. He has been with the same company for 14 years.

I can apply for Irish citizenship as i have been married to him for 3 years on Oct 31 this year.

Im guessing in the end as i can apply for irish citizenship, its not a large concern that i only have a residency card again...

Perhaps the card was printed with the wrong details. You then need to contact the BRP team, the details should be in the pamphlet or leaflet that you got with the card.

Hi CR001

Thanks! i had a look for the details you mentioned and sent an email. it came back as an automated email. Think i will have to write in to the address on the letter.
