Questions/Doubts for In-Country Tier 2 extension

Post by repeatcell » Sat Oct 14, 2017 11:58 am

I am applying for an extension to my Tier 2 visa which expires next month (Nov 2017). I have a few doubts and would appreciate if someone can answer these:

1. Can I stay and continue working in the UK once I have submitted my visa extension application (before my current leave expires)?

2. Do I need to leave the UK and enter again once my visa is renewed OR is there something wrong with my new CoS details? Under 'Does the migrant need to leave and re-enter the UK during the period of approval?', my CoS mentions Y (yes).

3. On the application form, it asks about the National Identity Card. Does this means the 'Aadhar card' for Indian citizens? Should I fill this in?

4. Under convictions and penalties on the form, I am asked about driving penalties. I have been fined a few times for speeding (within limits) in the USA. Should I mention this? I did mention this when I first applied for Tier 2 visa 3 years ago.

5. To send the documents for an extension of visa, it is only passports and photos for me since I was not issued a BRP card when I applied in Nov. 2014? I guess BRPs were not issued at that time?

Many thanks in advance!!

1. Yes, provided it is with your tier 2 general sponsor.

2. No, you don't need to leave for an extension.

3. Don't know and overseas identity cards are not really relevant to the UK.

4. Better to mention them if you have stated the facts before.

5. Yes plus the other supporting documents.

Thank you so much, CR001.
Could someone please suggest what other supporting documents may be required. I can attach CoS letter from my employer. Anything else which might help?
Thank you!!

I haven't. I sometimes feel it is more complicated to understand from guidance notes. Thanks for the reminder, will try now as no one has responded.

The online form will give you a checklist of what must be submitted. This topic is also posted almost daily on the forum by other members.

The guidance notes are useful too.

I got my Tier2 visa extension approval today.
My appointment was at Croydon premium service center at 11am. My visa was approved at 16:00.
The visa center was very busy and it took 4 hrs from taking the token at front desk to ''under consideration" by case worker. Once the visa was under consideration by the case worker, it was concluded within an hour.

The documents i submitted were below,(Not all cases are the same but these are the documents list that i submitted)

- Application form
- Documents check list
- All passports
- BRP card
- 2 Passport size photos
- CNIC (Pakistan National identity card). It was in Urdu language, so i translated it from a CIOL registered translator and attached it.
- IHS payment recipt
- Visa application payment receipt

One other important thing to mention is following,

-if the COS was incorrectly issued as ISC Exempt, the Home office won't refuse your visa but inform your employer to pay ISC charges in 13 days.

- If the COS was incorrectly issued as ISC Liable (Which was my case as for my extension it wasn't needed but employer paid ISC charges by mistake), Home office won't refuse your visa but will refund the charges back to the employer.
