Long Residence ILR and current job on tier 2

Hi guys,

I have seen some really interesting discussions here and I think my case below may test the most knowledgeable members of this forum. Would REALLY welcome some guidance here.

Background:

2007-2015- On a dependent visa as member of family of a diplomat (managed to keep it for university but was required to provide evidence every year that I am studying). I graduated in 2015 and got a job right away.

2015- present- on a Tier 2 Visa

Now- I have never had any breaks over 45 days (longest one was waiting on my tier 2 back at home) and am positive that I spent less than 300 days abroad over the whole period.

THE TWIST- I do not have copies of my old passports as I was required to surrender them (2 passports surrendered). I have the copy of front page and all visas that I've had across all passports.

I have Premium Service appt next week. I have requested my SAR but dont have it yet. I have a signed letter from the embassy confirming the passport situation as well as that in my time as dependant, I have not been abroad for more than 200 days (to June2015) ( they actually certify that). This is all of course accompanied by school certifcates, gp letter etc

In the context of this, is the letter from the embassy, which in theory is issued by the government of another country, likely to be accepted and 'solid'?

Obviously I will be providing all payslips of jobs and my current employer 's letter.

If it's not good enough I will try postpone and wait for SAR but surely, a signed letter produced by a gov't (and in theory can be held to account) is good enough here for these purposes?

If you do not have all the original passports, you will need to submit the documentation listed in the Set(LR) form to prove your residency.

Thanks but that want really my questions. I will obviously provide all I have in that sense, but having come here aged 14 I dont have any bills or anything of substance for my first few years.

The question here is: how seriously are they likely to take a signed document issued by a foreign government because realistically- they are the only ones that can provide confirmations here?

Look for page 23 and 24. You should be able to get some letter from school confirming you were student there?
They will consider the letter and will know that previous passports are not always available. They should also have all your previous information, but still best to submit as much as u can from the time of stay where u dont have passport

Thanks guys, so at the mo I have (in addition to embassy letter):

- Letter from GP confirming from 2008-2017
- School letter
- Sixth Form letter
- University letter + degree certificate
- Employer Letter
- Copies of all passports and visas.

My lawyer told me that the main ISSUE to watch out for is the absences ( as I dont have old stamps from my passports). I am able to put an absence list with a maximum 10 days error (from memory, emails, pictures) and that is why I have asked the embassy to certify that I haven't been away for more than 200 days.

Is the above sufficient?

add a letter to explain that absences are only estimated as you do not have all records. The proof that you are submitting, looks good enough to me.

Hi guys!

First of all- thanks to all the contributors, gurus and anybody else responsible for content- learnt so much.

I have a question for you and I have lost a lot of sleep over it recently.

Short background: came here on exempt visa, then moved to Tier 2 and just completed my ten years on 10 October 2017. Initially, I had a Premium Service appmt on 4th Oct but lawyer advised me to postpone to get more documents (as I have no previous passports), so I did for 14th November. Hence I have already been here ten years legally. Relevant for below: I already have employer's letter in required format confirming it (from Tier 2 issuer).

My new manager is an evil person in every sense of that word and she has made it her mission to make my life miserable at work. I have tolerated all this time just becoz I was waiting for ILR but God knows i'm ready to quit tomorrow..I work at a large consulting firm and my contract says 3 months notice. I strongly suspect that if I quit now it will still take a good 2 months before I actually leave my job.

My lawyer advised me to stay put until I get my ILR as a precaution (in exactly two weeks hopefully) but the situation is getting worse every day and I'm afraid I will just snap and quit before.

My question is- given above how likely is this to affect my application on the day, if I do quit this week? I have now been here for over ten years legally as at 10th October and realistically, by the time I get my end date I suspect it will be another 2 weeks atleast (based on other analysts).

Any thoughts on above are welcome- sorry for long post but I have lost a lot of sleep over this.
